Tips

  • The RC PDF usually opens without a password. If it asks for one, a password box appears here.
  • Use the RC PDF exactly as downloaded. A photo, a screenshot or a PDF saved again from another app may not crop well.
  • Printing for several customers at a CSC, e-Mitra or cyber cafe? Press Add to print list after each crop to put up to 5 CR80-size (85.6 × 54 mm) cards on one A4 sheet, with no Photoshop needed.
  • Border not quite right? Press Edit under the result to move it.
  • If a card doesn't crop the way you expect, tell us in our Telegram Group Chat so we can fix it.

Where to get your RC PDF

Every state registers vehicles on the same national system, Vahan, so the steps are the same wherever your vehicle is registered.

  1. From Parivahan Sewa

On Parivahan Sewa, open Online Services, then Vehicle Related Services, and pick your state. Log in, enter your vehicle number, verify the OTP sent to the registered mobile, and download the RC as a PDF.

  2. From DigiLocker

In DigiLocker, search for Registration of Vehicles from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, enter your vehicle number and chassis number, and fetch it. It is saved as a PDF in Issued Documents.

Printing the Vehicle RC card

  • Print at 100% or Actual size. Fit to page makes the card smaller than 85.6 × 54 mm.
  • Print on A4 or 4×6 paper. Pick the paper from the arrow next to Print.
  • Save gives JPEG A4 or JPEG 4×6 (the sheet as it prints), JPEG Crop (the card alone) or Word. Each prints at the right size from any viewer set to 100%.
  • For a PVC card printer, pick PVC card from the arrow next to Print. Standard (300 dpi) suits most card printers. Choose High (600 dpi) if small text looks soft.
  • If the card has a back, A4 prints the front and back side by side. Cut along the edges, fold, and laminate. On 4×6 the back prints under the front, so cut out both sides and laminate them back to back.

Questions

Does it work for an RC from any state?

Yes. Since 2019 every state issues the smart card RC in the same national design, for bikes, cars and commercial vehicles, so it crops the same way everywhere.

Is the RC in DigiLocker valid?

Yes. Under a 2018 advisory from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the RC shown in DigiLocker or mParivahan is accepted the same as the original card. A printout is handy, but keep the app or the original card for checks on the road.

Does the RC PDF have a password?

Usually not. If a PDF does ask for one, E-Card Cutter shows a password box before cropping.

Can I print the Vehicle RC card on a PVC card?

Yes. Pick PVC card from the arrow next to Print. Each side prints on its own at CR80 size (85.6 × 54 mm), for card printers that print one side at a time. If your printer prints from its own software, Save or Copy each side and open it there. Standard (300 dpi) suits most card printers. Choose High (600 dpi) if small text looks soft.

Is my RC PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. The PDF is opened and cropped in your browser, on your phone or computer. It isn’t sent to any server.

About the Vehicle RC card

What the RC is

The registration certificate shows that a vehicle is registered with the transport department. It carries the registration number, the owner’s name, the chassis and engine numbers, the fuel type and the vehicle class.

One design for every state

Since 2019, the Central Motor Vehicles Rules give every state’s smart card RC one national design, with the same layout and security features, a QR code and room for a chip. Before that, each state used its own format.

Cropping and printing it

E-Card Cutter finds the RC in the PDF, front and back, and cuts it to 85.6 × 54 mm, ready to print on A4, 4×6 photo paper or a PVC card.

Your driving licence crops the same way.
