Where to get your NIOS ID card
The ID card is available to every NIOS learner after admission is confirmed.
From the NIOS student portal
Log in on sdmis.nios.ac.in with your username and password (or reference number), open the print menu and choose ID Card.
ID card not showing?
It appears once your admission is confirmed and an enrolment number is given. Until then the portal shows that your documents are being verified.
Printing the NIOS card
- Print at 100% or Actual size. Fit to page makes the card smaller than 85.6 × 54 mm.
- The JPEG prints at the right size from any photo or PDF viewer set to 100%. The Word file already has the card placed at its exact size.
- For PVC card printers, Standard (300 dpi) suits most printers. Choose High (600 dpi) if small text looks soft.
- On paper, print front and back side by side, cut along the edges, fold, and laminate.
Questions
What is the NIOS ID card used for?
It identifies you as an NIOS learner at your study centre, at exams and for other official work during your course.
Is the NIOS ID card the same as the admit card?
No. The admit card (hall ticket) is issued for each exam. The ID card is for the whole course.
Does the NIOS ID card PDF have a password?
Usually not. If a PDF does ask for one, E-Card Cutter shows a password box before cropping.
Is my NIOS ID card PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The PDF is opened and cropped in your browser, on your phone or computer. It isn't sent to any server.
